2021 Hive Performance Collective
Q: How does it work?
HIVE 2021: Flight Paths is a collection of twelve micro-performances that take place digitally between you and an artist from your own home, phone, or neighbourhood. Audiences can participate from anywhere in the world.
This is a build your own adventure-style interactive journey, where each performance invites you to participate in a unique way. Sorted into four paths, audiences can experience a show by: Travel, Phone, Home, and Location.
The paths will reimagine live performance as they invite audience members to do the same. You may receive a call from a friendly group of experts who will assess a part of your life, follow a set of instructions to physically lead you down memory lane, or you may travel through your neighbourhood while imagining it as an ancient Persian myth.
Each performance is a maximum of 15 minutes, and attendees will be able to reserve spots for up to six performances per day from 2-5 PM PST. Attendees may mix-and-match shows from different paths or see all of a single path. We encourage you to take in all twelve performances over two or more days!
Q: Will I be attending a show in person?
No. You will not be required or requested to be present at a venue or physical space with other audience or performers present. All performances are delivered uniquely digitally either over your personal phone or computer. Some of these shows may ask you to travel in your own neighbourhood or arrive at a general location, but these will be soft directions (i.e. "turn left and continue walking" or "find a space with a large tree and wait for further instruction").
Q: How many shows can I see?
You can see all twelve! However, in a single day you can reserve tickets for up to six shows. If you'd like to see the remaining six performances, you'll have to go back to the booking link and reserve tickets for a separate date.
Q: Do I have to see all the shows in a single path?
No. You can pick as few as one.
Q: How much does it cost?
All HIVE 2021: Flight Path performances are free or by donation! If you are able to pay for your ticket, please visit the donation link where you can make your donation securely here.
Q: What if I can no longer attend the show?
If you know you will not be attending HIVE 2021 in advance of your booking date, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to cancel your tickets. Many of the performances have a limited audience capacity, and as the event is completely free, we kindly ask you to respect the artists' time and provide space for any other audiences who'd like to experience the work.
Q: Can I book more than one ticket to a show?
Due to the unique constraints of the event, we kindly ask you to only reserve a ticket for yourself on the day of the performance. If any other members of your household will also be attending, please make a note during your ticket reservation or have them reserve a ticket using their own email and phone number if possible.
Q: What do I need to attend?
Many of the performances will have unique requirements to experience the show. Please review each show description to make sure you are able to access or are comfortable using any of the required tools or apps.
Q: Do I have to be available the full three hours?
Yes and No. Once you book your ticket, based on the number of shows you've reserved we'll tailor a path of time for you to be able to experience each piece. As some of the performances take you from inside to outside the home and around your neighbourhood, we want to make sure you have enough time to travel and get yourself ready between pieces. Depending on which shows you've reserved, this may mean seeing your first show from 2:00-2:15pm inside and then travelling to a nearby destination for your second show to start at 2:45pm.
If you have any specific time limitations, please let us know in the notes section when reserving your ticket.
